Frequently Asked Questions

What time is check in?

The cottage will be ready for you by 2.30pm. There is no reception desk. You will receive a security code for the cottage door prior to your arrival. We do not live onsite, but are close by should you need us at any time.

What time is check out?

You must leave the cottage by 10.30am to allow us time to prepare for the next guests.

Can I arrive any earlier or leave later?

Late check out or early check-in may be possible and is dependant on other bookings. Please contact us prior to your arrival to see if this is possible.

Do you allow pets?

Depends what they are. We have a total ban on elephants and monkeys, or any animals that can be destructive. This includes some dogs. If you have a dog that wrecks everything in sight or sheds hair everywhere we’d prefer they didn’t come. Even though the yard is fully fenced our garden isn’t destruction proof either so just leaving them outside isn’t an option. If you are a dog owner with a house trained, well behaved pet with your own bedding you are welcome. We will let you decide if your loved pet would be welcome. You need to ask us prior to your arrival if they can come. We will ask for your credit card details and reserve the right to charge extra for extra cleaning or repairs if necessary. Read more on our Pets page.

Can children stay at the cottage?

Children are welcome at the cottage under the same conditions as pets (insert smiley face here). There is no specific play equipment in the rear garden but it is fully fenced. There is a great playground at the Greenock Recreation Park across the road. We can provide a port-a-cot with linen and also a high chair on request for no charge. There are plastic plates, cups and cutlery in the kitchen. Children with a bed-wetting problem must provide their own waterproof sheet. Guests will be charged extra cleaning, and maybe even for a new mattress, if a child wets the bed without this.

Is there a minimum number of nights I need to stay?

Friday and Saturday nights must be booked as part of a two night minimum stay (ie Friday night must include either Thursday or Saturday, and Saturday night must include either Friday or Sunday). One night stays on Friday and Saturday nights can be requested and are sometimes available. There is a minimum four night stay over Easter (Thurs-Sun). There is no minimum for mid-week stays or other long weekends/public holidays.

Is there WiFi internet access in the cottage?

Yes, free WiFi internet access is available. It generally works with no trouble, but connection is not guaranteed. We cannot help you with problems with connection to your device and accept no responsibility for any virus/computer worms propagated whilst connected.

Is firewood provided for the wood fire?

Firewood is provided from 1 May to 31 October. We provide enough wood, including kindling, for 2 or 3 fires. We do not allow use of the wood fire outside of these dates. The two air-conditioners work very well in heating the cottage, and there are electric blankets and warm quilts on the beds.

What do I get for breakfast? What cooking facilities are there?

Generous breakfast provisions are provided for you to prepare your own breakfast. Local bacon, eggs, tomatoes, milk, cereal and juice along with bread, a selection of condiments, tea and coffee are provided. There is a fully equipped kitchen with full sized fridge and cooking options include stove top, oven, microwave, electric frypan and toaster. Outside is a gas barbecue next to the patio seating. Or you could just go out to one of the many restaurants on offer!

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes we do. Visit our Gift Voucher page for details.

What do I need to bring with me?

Just your personal items. All linen and towels are supplied as well as some toiletries. Generous breakfast provisions for each morning are provided for you to prepare you own breakfast. The kitchen is well equipped and stocked with handy cooking essentials such as salt, pepper, cling wrap, paper towel etc. There is a range of DVDs, books, magazines and games.

Is there a telephone in the cottage?

Despite once being the telegraph station for the region there is no land-line telephone in the cottage! We recommend you bring you mobile/cell phone. There is a public telephone box outside the Greenock Post Office.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

Please proceed to our bookings and cancellation policies page for our full cancellation policy, terms and conditions. We strongly advise you to take out travel insurance to provide protection against unforseen events.

Can I change the dates of my booking?

Provided you give us at least 30 days notice you can change the dates of your booking, subject to availability. There is no charge for the change, however there may be tariff increases. The changed booking must be for the same number or more nights. Fewer nights or less than 30 days notice will be treated as a cancellation.

Are you close to wineries?

We are within walking distance of award winning Murray Street Vineyards, where you can easily spend a lazy afternoon of wine tasting whilst enjoying the views and savouring one of their lunch platters. Across the road is Kalleske Wines. A short car ride will take you to numerous cellar doors – both large and boutique, famous and undiscovered. Download the Barossa Touring Map to make your choice.
