Wine

The Barossa Valley is lined with famous wine brands including, Penfold's, Jacob's Creek, Yalumba, Peter Lehmann and many more.

Since the late 1840's The Barossa has been producing top selling an award winning wines. Winemaking dominates the regions economy until today, more than 20% of wine produced in Australia comes from The Barossa Valley . Eden Valley 's Riesling produced in this cooler area of Barossa and Shiraz is primarily grown on the valley floor. Shiraz and Riesling have both made Barossa Valley a famous wine region the world over, it is indeed a special place to wine lovers internationally.

Barossa Valley is home to the world's oldest Shiraz vines, with lineage dating back to the 1840's. This area of South Australia has been a great cultivator for these vines, with comments that the areas wines are ‘rich and full bodied' being a comment heard often by world wine critics.

Food

Touring

The Barossa is an incredibly scenic area of South Australia with a varied amount of destinations with country roads, vineyards and villages. The Barossa is an area of 30 km's by 40km's. You can drive, or choose from many different tour operators. You can also see the region from a different point of view by helicopter, hot air balloon or the locally famous trike tour. Pick up a map and create your own drive plan for the area, it won't involve much planning and you could do this with some brochures and a local map in less than an hour.

Events & Concerts

Every month events take place in Barossa from food and wine festivals with outdoor concerts, charity car rallies, cycling and many other local exhibits. The Annual Barossa Rose and Flower Show is held each year. The area has hosted the 2008 stage 1 finish of the Tour Down Under and in April 2009 expect Australia 's longest running wine festival, the biennial Barossa Vintage Festival.

Arts

The Barossa is full of vines but also colour with a very artistic region with an emerging art culture through many art galleries, these include the Barossa Regional Gallery and Tanunda's Old Mill Gallery.

Walks and National Parks – Barossa Kangaroo's

Located in The Barossa is the Para Wirra Recreation Park , Kaiser Stuhl (plenty of Kangaroos) and  Sandy Creek Conservation Parks .  The Heysen and Mawson Trails also allow visitors the chance to experience a diversity of landscapes and an abundant variety of flora and fauna.
